It shames me to think of how many opportunities (industry and non-industry) I turned down, walked away from prematurely, or outright bombed in search of the ever elusive (hope of landing) “dream job”. It sounds like this guy is still young and has time to make up for the lost opportunity, but hopefully he’s gained some perspective from this. Great post, Krista!
It’s a reality that we all face: there is no such thing as a dream job. It’s a mirage. There are only opportunities and I hope some fabulous ones are heading your way!
It’s never a perfect job but most of the time there will be an opportunity to apply one’s unique set of skills and passion in a way that opens up an opportunity to progress towards that more perfect fit.
This sounds like good advice to me.
Why thank you!
