My brother and his wife have 7 kids, so naturally they drive a huge Sprinter van or what we affectionally call "the airport shuttle." Because of its large size, I've been too intimidated to drive it. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but I’m not a fan of driving and the road up to my brother's Utah home is really steep. Even when there isn't snow, I have an irrational fear about rolling down the hill. Keep in mind, I've been a passenger in this car for over 5 years and nobody has ever rolled off any hill. I've been asked to drive the kids places in it over the years and I've declined for one reason only....I can't drive the Sprinter Van. I just can't. Or at least that is what I thought until my wise young nephew spoke truth to my soul and I learned how to move past the “can’t.”
One day, my very astute 7-year-old nephew observed, "Krista, you CAN drive the Sprinter, you are just afraid to drive the Sprinter. So really, you CAN drive it, you just don't want to." He emphasized the "can" to convey that I had all of the ability to drive, I was just a fraidy cat. I thought what he said was cute, but I also thought he was wrong. I mean, I can't drive the Sprinter van. I just can't.
About a week later, my niece texted me from basketball practice needing a ride home. All of her teammates had been picked up and she was waiting alone at school. I was the adult in her life with a driver's license, availability and access to a car who could help her. There was only one problem, the only vehicle available to me was the dreaded Sprinter van. Did I mention it was January in snowy Park City, Utah?
When I pictured my darling niece, all by herself in the freezing cold, I miraculously forgot about my "inability" to drive the Sprinter van. It took me two seconds to realized that the love I have for my niece was greater than my fear of driving a big vehicle. So I grabbed the keys, hopped in the Sprinter and proceeded down the hill. It was surprisingly easy.
My nephew was right, I COULD drive the Sprinter van, but I didn't know it until I was forced to make a choice.
Without a strong motivation to change, I’d still think that I was incapable of driving a big vehicle. If I know anything about life it is this; anybody can do anything when presented with an obvious choice. My nephew was right, I certainly had the ability to drive the sprinter van. Fear was an invisible and totally unnecessary obstacle. Love motivated me through it.
Goodbye Entry-Level Hollywood
While I have loved helping 20somethings launch their entertainment industry careers, my energy and interest in Hollywood on a personal and business level has changed. I stopped watching Bravo and other TV shows in favor of the drama in real life. I love watching “Real Time with Bill Maher.” I love reading Bari Weiss’ The Free Press daily. I am a rabid listener of The All In Podcast where 4 real-life-friends (all tech billionaires) discuss business, politics, & culture with depth. I follow various Substack accounts and really enjoy exposing myself to points of view outside the Los Angeles bubble. I follow social media accounts that deal with different political points of view, matters of the spirit and health. I can’t get enough info about women’s health (particularly about hormones, nutrition and peri-menopause) and I tend to enjoy conversations people in their 30s, 40s, 50s and older. I’ve helped coaching clients at various ages and stages in their careers to great success (though I haven’t really promoted in my newsletters.)
My interests and the bright young clientele I’ve loved serving are no longer in alignment. I’ve experienced some personal and professional events that make me want to live more vibrantly, experience new things and write about all of it. The attention I’m giving to entry-level Hollywood has come to an end. I’ve been avoiding the truth, like I avoided driving the Sprinter Van. But the truth is clear. I CAN make a change in my business and my life, I’ve just been afraid to until now. Details of my business evolution and how you will benefit will become more clear in the coming weeks. To make space for that, I’m ending a couple of programs and didn’t want anyone to miss out. If you are seeking an internship or haven’t landed your first job in entertainment but want to, these two programs will help you.

Great personal example shared!!! Beautiful story about the wisdom of children and the clarity it personally provided you!!! Looking forward to hearing what comes next for you!!!❤️❤️❤️
Congrats on braving the new thoughts and realizing what you truly want to do next! As someone who recently baby stepped a similar transition, and refused to believe I was leaving my old profession behind for something frighteningly new, until I relized that's what I'd already successfully done, it's kind of awesome to come out the other side of that, and realize you have a whole new life to experience and live. Excited to hear where you're going next!
