Continuing our Coffee with KP: Covid Collection series, today we’re talking to Kevin Frazier, the co-host of Entertainment Tonight! Once upon a time, I met Kevin when I worked with his then agent Jackie Harris and we did his “Entertainment Tonight” deal where he has been working since 2004. If you want a career as a host in sports or entertainment, you must watch this episode and learn how it’s done. Plus, we’ll get a cameo from his current assistant and learn what she does with Kevin and how working in a restaurant prepared her for it.
Before Kevin became the pop culture icon and aficionado we know and love today, he worked in sports. He graduated from Morgan State University in 1989 and got his first job as a local news and sports reporter in Charleston, South Carolina. As he worked his way up in the sports industry, he eventually landed in Los Angeles, where he worked as the host of ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” “The FX Sports Show,” and he served as a sideline reporter for the NFL. Then in 2004, he made the switch over to Hollywood and began working as a weekend anchor and correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. 20 years and seven Emmys later, Kevin now reigns as the king of pop culture - whether he’s interviewing the Obamas, hosting the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, playing himself in the movies, or joining us for CWKP. ;-)
In this episode, you’ll learn how you can start an on-camera career in entertainment or sports, how to capture iconic lines like “my husband can’t throw and catch the ball” from Giselle after Tom Brady lost the Super Bowl in 2014 and why leaving Los Angeles could be the best career move for your big on-camera career.
